Expedit is a growth-orientated Scandinavian shopfitting company with significant joinery and metalwork production facilities in the Nordic and Baltic countries. It is a subsidiary of a significant global group and has a good record supplying many well-known multiple retail clients.
The company needs to appoint an Operations Manager to be responsible for the performance of their joinery manufacturing and warehousing complex in southern Sweden. The factory is already equipped with modern machinery and plans for further improvements and investment are well advanced.
One of your key objectives will be to improve productivity because the current output is expected to double in the near future. You will therefore be expected to evaluate current working methods.
The workforce of 50 consists of a good mix of long-serving highly skilled personnel, plus a younger element who are keen to learn and be developed. This will provide you with challenges during the implementation of any future changes.
You will have a technical background, in addition to a number of years managing and leading a successful timber orientated manufacturing facility. You will be commercially aware and financially minded in order to run the operation to agreed budgets, and also to plan and implement future operational strategy.
Whilst It is not essential for you to come from a similar business, it is necessary for you to understand the complexity of the company and its market. Although it is not a mass production environment, the manufacturing processes need to be transformed into a modern and slick operation. In order to meet clients’ challenging lead times, it is also necessary for you to focus on modern production planning and stock control systems.
Due to the importance of this key role, you will report directly to the Group CEO who is based outside of Sweden, and will be responsible for all site decisions in his and the Sales Director’s absence.
You will be rewarded with a competitive salary, which is negotiable dependent upon your previous record and achievements.
